How to post to Instagram and Facebook at the same time
Updated August 16, 2026
The plain-English version
There are three ways to post to Instagram and Facebook together. The share toggle in the Instagram app (free, easiest), Meta Business Suite (free, adds scheduling), or a scheduler like Unbusied (covers the other five platforms too). The key for the first two: your Instagram account and Facebook Page must be linked in Meta's Accounts Center.
Way 1: The share toggle in the Instagram app
- Link your Instagram account and Facebook Page in Meta's Accounts Center (Instagram Settings → Accounts Center → Sharing across profiles).
- When you post on Instagram, turn on Share to Facebook before publishing.
- Posts, Reels, and Stories can all share across.
You can also set sharing to happen automatically for every post. Free and instant, but it only fires when you post by hand, in the moment.
Way 2: Meta Business Suite
Business Suite (business.facebook.com) is Meta's free tool for Pages and professional Instagram accounts. Compose once, tick both Facebook and Instagram, and post now or schedule for later. If you only ever post to Meta's platforms, this is a solid free answer.
Way 3: A scheduler (when Meta isn't your whole world)
The catch with both free ways: they stop at Meta's wall. If your post should also hit Threads, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, or X, you're back to juggling apps. A scheduler covers the whole spread:
- Write the post once in Unbusied and attach your media.
- Select Instagram and Facebook, plus any of the other five platforms.
- Adjust captions per platform if needed, pick a time, schedule.
- Stories work too: Story mode publishes to Instagram and Facebook Stories together.
Common questions
Why can't I share my Instagram post to Facebook?
Almost always a linking problem. Open Instagram Settings, go to Accounts Center, and make sure your Instagram account and your Facebook Page are in the same Accounts Center with sharing enabled. Business accounts share to a linked Page, not a personal profile.
Can I schedule a post to Instagram and Facebook at once?
Yes. Meta Business Suite does it for those two platforms free. A scheduler like Unbusied does it plus Threads, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X in the same scheduled post, for $33/month flat.
Do Stories share to both too?
Yes. The Instagram app can share Stories to Facebook automatically, and Unbusied's Story mode schedules the same Stories to both platforms at once.
Should the caption be the same on both?
Usually it's fine: Instagram and Facebook audiences overlap and both allow long captions. The place to trim is hashtags. A wall of hashtags reads native on Instagram and spammy on Facebook.
